Responsibilities of an Editor

Managing the Editorial Process:

  • Manuscript Evaluation:

    • Reject unsuitable papers at the initial stage or send suitable ones for peer review.
  • Assigning Reviewers:

  • Author Relations:
    • Act as a point of contact for authors, addressing concerns and guiding them through the publication process.

    • Collaborate with and guide the editorial board, discussing journal strategy and operations.

Strategic Planning and Growth:

  • Increase the journal's impact and readership by improving quality and visibility.

  • Pursue indexing in databases (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science) and improve impact metrics.

Crisis Management:

  • Handle disputes over authorship, conflicts of interest, or appeals to editorial decisions.
  • Respond to allegations of misconduct (e.g., duplicate submissions, falsified data).
